![]() Review 2: A great book showcasing Doctorow's talents for writing near sci-fi. The author goes through multiple case studies of companies which have been able to go to market successfully while avoiding these and other is. In previous decades, for an individual or small company to launch and actual product to compete with large established manufacturers was an incredibly daunting task requiring massive capital investment and prerequisite fundraising, often at the cost of equity of the company or leverage on your personal assets. Review 1: Possibly not at all interesting to anyone who does not work directly in manufacturing, but I found this to be a very fascinating analysis of the new production paradigm available to small scale companies thanks to the convergence of technologies such as 3D printing, open source design, and crowd source funding. ![]()
